Rudy Garcia Welcome Introduction PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 02 December 2009

Hello, my name is Rudy Garcia and I want to share some information about me with you and let you know why I am running for the US Senate in 2010 representing the wonderful state of Arizona.

I was born and raised in Arizona and lived in California for a number of years and then returned to Arizona.  The reason I am running for the Senate is because I am concerned about what has been going on in our government and I would like to be part of the changes that are needed.  I am all about representing the people, not the large corporations and will not accept any financial assistance from large corporations.

To let you know more about what qualifies me for a Senate seat, I want you to be aware of the fact that the majority of my professional life has been dedicated to serving people.  I was in the Army and was honorably discharged, then in the steel industry for 20 years.  I began the Willie C. Velasquez Center and was the Executive Director of the non-profit organization that helped more than 100,000 people attain legal American Citizenship.   What drew me into politics was a corrupt City Council in Bell Gardens, CA and I wanted to see change, which I engineered and carried out through the first successful recall of a entire city council in California.  I then served on the City Council of Bell Gardens, CA for 8 years and then became the city Mayor.  When I retired, I moved back to Arizona in 2004.  My interests in and concern with what is happening today has drawn me back into politics and into community organizations to help improve the direction that our country has taken.

Things that concern me most now are the economy and the financial situation our government has gotten us into, the illegal war we started, the environment, our health care and educational systems, sustainability of our agriculture, the treatment of our veterans and restoration of our constitutional rights.  With more than $10 trillion dollars in national debt, we need to do something to rein in our expenditures and dependence on foreign oil through renewable energies.  We also need to restructure our system of taxation and so much more.

The most important thing to me is to the people, so I would like to request that you let me know what concerns you have and their priorities.  To assist me in representing you well, please fill out our survey and let me know what issues you think are the most important to be dealt with and their priorities.  Your opinions are very important to me.

This is a grass roots campaign and the reason we are starting it now is because it takes a lot of time to grow a campaign from the ground up and we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to voice their concerns and that we take them all into account.

I would also like to request that you sign up for our newsletter. We will send out a monthly newsletter to let you know how things are progressing with the campaign.  We would also like to request that you let your friends know about this campaign and send those to our website because the more people that know what we are doing and that participate; the better we can represent them.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen to me and I look forward to representing you to the best of my ability.
